Havant Music Festival

We could not manage to put on this Festival without the help of the Rotary Club of Havant and the support of our local County Councillor, Jackie Branson. We are working towards making the Festival financially sustainable, and even making surplus funds which can be ploughed back into ensuring that local schools have some access to music-making, and also helping any local talented youngsters to develop their careers.
The venues who welcome our concerts are always very helpful, but a special thanks this year go to Rev. Canon Tom Kennar, a talented musician himself, as well as Rob Fryer, Manager of the Meridian Centre, who have both, from the first idea of the Festival, been a huge support and encouragement. I spoke last September at a national conference on the sad decline in places for concerts, with local theatres and venues such as the Wedgewood Rooms, finding it increasingly difficult to survive as government funding for the Arts is cut back.
Our performers have also been great to work with, many of them creating these performances for very little financial reward, simply wanting to share their love of making music, with all the benefits that brings for improved health and friendship. Huge thanks to each and every one of them.
The committee would welcome your help. We have most 9 short meetings a year. We also need more people to help steward and serve refreshments at our performances. If you can help, or have ideas for the 5th Havant Music Festival which will run from 22nd April to 2nd May, please contact us by sending a message from this page, or telephone me on 01243 372825.
